User experience is the factor which drives traffic to a website. For a blogging website or a blog, social share buttons are one of the user experience improving elements which helps mutually in gaining benefits.
Social share buttons on WordPress posts make it easy for blog visitors to share posts with their friends, family, coworkers over social media, email and apps without leaving the blog.
For blogger blogs, you have to manually create a widget add code to it but for WordPress, the process is simple.
There are two ways you can add social first is Automatic and another is manual.
Let’s start with automatic procedure to add social share buttons to your WordPress posts.
To display social share buttons near website posts, you have to install a social share plugin.
We are choosing open social share plugin which is responsive and lightweight plugin for WordPress.
Getting started with automatic way.
Goto WordPress dashboard using admin credentials. Note that you will be able to install a plugin using admin access only, no other access role has the permission to do such type of changes.
After logging in using admin account, navigate to plugins, click on add new from the sidebar and search for open social share in search bar at the right.
Note that, as you type the name, search will initiate automatically.
Click on install now and then activate it.
After activating, navigate to social9 icon on sidebar and enable horizontal or vertical share buttons from the plugin console.
Getting started with manual way.
For manually installing share plugin, goto WordPress plugin page and search for open social share. From the plugin page, download the plugin in zip.
Now there are two choices to go for. One is by installing it via admin dashboard and second is via FTP.
Via Admin Dashboard:
Navigate to plugin from sidebar, and click add.
Click on add new and hit Upload plugin on top left side.
Once the upload is done you can activate it and follow the procedure mentioned above.
Create FTP credentials or take assistance from your web host to setup one.
After connecting, navigate to wp-content folder then plugins.
Before uploading, make sure you have extracted the plugin in a root folder with same name.
Upload that folder via ftp in wp-content>plugins.
After successfully uploading the plugin files, goto plugin dashboard of your WordPress site (hit refresh if already opened before uploading the plugin). You will see the the plugin installed but not activated.
Now activate the plugin and follow the procedure mentioned above.
After activating and configuring the plugin, social share buttons will appear near your blog posts.
